Community stroke awareness talk

On 18 June 2026, the Queensland Chinese Affairs Committee joined the Queensland Chinese Doctors Association to host a community stroke awareness talk at Runcorn Tavern. Michael Doohan presented the session, with interpreting by Dr Anna Liu, Secretary of the Queensland Chinese Doctors Association. The talk covered early signs of stroke, emergency response and prevention. Both speakers answered questions and spoke with participants after the presentation. The event was exclusively sponsored by 1st Care Community.

Delegation meets Queensland Multiculturalism Minister Fiona Simpson MP

On the morning of 17 June 2026, Chairman Peter Zhuang led an eight-member Queensland Chinese Affairs Committee delegation to meet Multiculturalism Minister Fiona Simpson MP at the Queensland Government building. The delegation introduced the committee’s purpose, development and member organisations’ community work. Discussions covered communication between government and the Chinese community, participation in public affairs and multicultural development. The Minister acknowledged the Chinese community’s contribution to Queensland’s economy, society and culture. Staff accompanied the delegation on a tour of the building after the meeting, which strengthened the committee’s connections with the State Government.

Australian family law seminar

On the afternoon of 16 May 2026, the Queensland Chinese Affairs Committee hosted an Australian family law seminar at Runcorn Tavern, presented by Vice-Chair Chai Hoe of Harmony Legal. The session covered the importance of wills, property division and personal asset protection in divorce, and children’s future and family financial security. Chai Hoe answered questions and discussed these topics with participants after the presentation. The committee thanks Vice-Chair Alan Chen for sponsoring the venue.
